VISA DOCUMENT CHECKLIST

Review your visa documents
before submission.

Collecting documents is only the start. Use this checklist to review missing items, name differences, dates, numbers and expiry dates with your originals and the receiving authority’s instructions.

STEP 1

Start with the current official checklist

Visa requirements, application categories, documents and submission methods depend on factors such as your destination, nationality, residence and travel purpose. First consult the current instructions published by the relevant government, embassy or consulate.

VisaReady does not determine your required documents. This page helps you organize and compare documents after you have identified them from the official instructions. The examples below are not a universal list of required evidence.
STEP 2

Review the details within each document

Check whether the document is present, legible and covers the intended period. Compare personal details with the passport information you are using as a reference.

Examples of details to review when the document is required
DocumentDetails to reviewCommon differences to notice
PassportName, birth date, passport number and expiry dateFull photo page, machine-readable zone and expiry
Employment or study recordsName, issuer, issue date and employment or enrolment informationFormer names, middle names and old issue dates
Financial documentsName, account details, issue date and period coveredName differences or a period that does not match the instructions
Itinerary and transportName, travel dates, booking numbers and routeDeparture or return dates that differ from the application form
Accommodation or invitationName, address, stay dates and booking referenceDates that differ from the itinerary or missing traveller names
TranslationsCorresponding original, translated sections and translator informationMissing sections or an unclear match to the original

For reading and image-quality tips, see the document and OCR capture guide.

STEP 3

Compare documents side by side

Information may look correct on one page and still differ elsewhere. Review each shared detail across the documents that contain it.

Names

Compare passport spelling, name order, spaces, hyphens and middle names.

Dates

Compare dates that describe the same event, such as departure, return or a period of study.

Numbers

Compare passport, application and booking numbers character by character with their source.

Expiry

Use official instructions to confirm applicable validity and issue-date conditions.

Addresses and affiliations

Look for outdated home, employer, school or accommodation information.

Missing items

Check whether anything on the official list remains absent from your review.

See the name differences guide for a closer look at spelling and name order.

STEP 4

Make a final review before submission

The dates and expiry guide explains how to organize different kinds of dates.

Original images, PDFs and full OCR text stay in your browser and are not saved on VisaReady’s server. See the privacy policy for optional device saving and other service data.

VisaReady is a private service, independent of governments, embassies, consulates and application centres. It does not choose a visa, determine eligibility or document acceptability, prepare or submit applications on your behalf, or guarantee acceptance or approval.
